Spinning in NYC

Spinning in NYC is not only an amazing way to stay in shape, it allows you to challenge yourself and get rid of the stress of the day.

The question is – where do you go to get this great workout?

Well, there’s a ton of different answers to that question.

You’ll want to consider things such as location, intensity level, costs, whether you want to do spinning at your gym or at a place that focuses on that one workout, and more.

Spinning in NYC

Are you a member of a gym? If so, it’s highly likely that they have a spin class that you could start going to on a regular basis. For example, gyms such as Equinox, New York Sports club and Crunch all have spinning classes.

Here’s how those three are likely to rank:

  • Equinox – this is one of the higher end clubs in the city, and for the most part their spinning classes are excellent. You’ll receive a top-notch instructor, good music and a packed class (typical for NYC). The classes will be filled with both veterans and those new to group fitness. It’s a good environment, but given what you pay to be a member of the club… it should be.
  • New York Sports Club – this is moderately prices gym, and the classes run the board. What that means is that the energy of the class is built by the instructor, and they can be hit or miss. If you get a great instructor, you’ll have a class that rivals that of Equinox. But, if you have a bad instructor you’ll be sitting on the bike for 45 minutes thinking about what it is you need to do next.
  • Crunch – this is possibly one of the least expensive gyms in NYC. Remember what was just said about hit or miss instructors? That’s a huge factor at this gym. There are a few good instructors that rotate around their Manhattan locations, but for the most part they are average – at best. Some classes will be packed because an instructor plays good music, but others can have empty bikes left and right. And a quick word of caution. Good music in no way justifies that a class is “good.” Some of the Crunch instructors help new students, but others blow them off and pay no attention to technique and things that help make it a good experience.

Now, those are just three options that might be relevant to a large population of those looking to do spinning in NYC. Reason being is that they likely make a bulk of gym memberships.
